Comments:
The LRC is a 20 x 20m complex located outdoors in a well-shaded area. It has 13 low level climbing elements (approximately 600mm above ground height) made up of a series of bridges, swings and foot cables with overhead rope vines and anchor points. Students work in teams of 3 and take turns to climb and spot. The LRC requires students to cooperate, to support another and have a go.
Adjacent to the LRC is the MHW which takes larger teams of approximately 15 students. This activity requires students to work together to get every member through to the end of the course in the fastest possible time. This is competitive team challenge and rewards teams who focus on developing solutions, create a plan and support each other to feel safe.
Debriefing the session is important in identifying how successfully individuals and teams worked together eg. strategies used to get everyone through to the end of the course, identifying examples of being supportive and taking initiative.
The LRC and MHW has sand as soft fall material.
